On November 5, 2020 the African American Museum will launch the Fall session of the Community African American History Course Plus. Taught on line by historian Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney, this course will cover topics in the African American experience from the Colonial period of American history to contemporary times. A new “plus” feature of this course will be discussions led by Ms. Joy Strickland, former CEO of Mothers Against Teen Violence, on the second Thursday of every month. Entitled “Black History Then and Now,” the discussions will focus on contemporary issues that affect African Americans and how history and historical events have shaped the contemporary African American experience. Here is a list of what will be covered:

- January 14 – Black History Then and Now: Martin and Malcolm-with Ms. Joy Strickland African American History
- November 19 – Africans in Colonial and Revolutionary America
- December 17 – The Road to the Civil War: It Was All About Us!
- November 12 - Black History Then and Now: The First Thanksgiving: Fact or Myth?- with Ms. Joy Strickland
- November 26 – No Class
- December 3 – Free African Americans in Antebellum America
- December 10 – Black History: Then and Now: Slavery and Christianity-with Ms. Joy Strickland
- December 24 and December 31 – No Class
- January 7 – The Road to Jim Crow and the Nadir of African American History
- January 21 – Origins of the American Civil Rights Movement and the Movement in Dallas
