Festival comes to Fair Park

On Dec. 13 & 14, Dallas celebrates the holidays in a big way.  It's fun, it's kid-friendly and it's free

 

Fair Park Holiday Lights will be held Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 

With free admission and free parking, the family-friendly event anticipates more than 60,000 visitors.   Fair Park Holiday Lights will offer holiday foods, entertainment, music, lights, horse-drawn carriages, hay rides, a Yule log, kids crafts, games and activities ... and more – including a first-time pajama holiday movie party outdoors in The Cotton Bowl!

Our local media partners include The Dallas Morning News, WFAA-TV Channel 8, KMPX/CH 29, WRR 101.1 FM, MOViN 107.5, 97.9 The Beat, 94.5 KSoul, CASA 106.7, El Norte 98.3 FM, La Raza 93.7 FM, XO 101.7 FM, and La Ranchera 1540 AM.

 

Local sponsors include Baylor, Coca Cola, DART, Home Depot, Jim Graham, Nokia and Verizon.
 

Here's just some of what you can expect at Fair Park Holiday Lights:
  • Official City of Dallas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Saturday, with a special candlelight tribute to the men and women serving in the military on both nights. Thousands of LED lights will be shining throughout the park during the holiday season.
  • Dallas Wind Symphony will perform holiday concerts in the Band Shell at 4:30 p.m.
  • Free admission to all Fair Park museums from 3 to 7 p.m.
  • First holiday movies to ever be screened on the field of the Cotton Bowl ("The Polar Express" will be featured on Saturday at 7 p.m. and "Elf" on Sunday at 7 p.m.) Attendees are invited to bring their blankets, lawn chairs, sleeping bags and wear holiday PJ favorites!   • “Holiday on Strings” by the Dallas Puppet Theatre (show times at 3:15, 4, 4:45, 5:30 and 6:15 p.m.)
  • Photographs with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
  • Tours of the newly renovated Cotton Bowl from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Texas Skyway gondola ride will be open.
  • On Sunday, kids and adults can tube down a Texas-sized snow hill located adjacent to Big Tex Circle.
  • Entertainment during the two-day event will include the City of Dallas’ Office of Cultural Affairs Neighborhood Touring Program musical artists.
  • Navidad in the Neighborhood, a non-profit organization, will be collecting new toys during the two-day event.
  • Stuff-A-DART Bus benefiting the North Texas Food Bank.
  • Concessions will be available for purchase.

Featuring arts and crafts, a festive gathering of vendors, and a variety of quality merchandise, Holiday Lights Market will feature The Fine Arts and Crafts Market comprised of local artisans, handmade craft items, demonstrations, and one-of-a-kind treasures.

 

Vendors participating in Holiday Lights Market will fill everyone’s gift buying needs – from the practical to the delectable. Nonprofit and corporate booth opportunities are also available.
