WRR 101.1 FM
Those in North Texas (and beyond) who love classical music love WRR Classical 101.1 FM.
Founded in 1921, WRR was the first licensed broadcast station in Texas and one of the nation's five inaugural stations. Its operations came to Fair Park in the late 1930s and it joined the FM spectrum in 1948.
Today, the station is owned by the City of Dallas but is funded not by city tax dollars but by advertising revenue. It is the only commercial station in Texas that plays classical music 24 hours a day and is the oldest same-owner station in the United States.
Popular programs on WRR Classical 101 FM include:
- The Morning Show with Amy Bishop
- Classic Cafe with Tempie Lindsey
- The Going Home Show with Kevin Pytcher
- Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin
The WRR FM-101 broadcast center is located just off Martin Luther King Blvd., between the Texas Discovery Gardens and the Texas Star Ferris wheel.
